I went into downtown Green Bay for dinner at the Black and Tan fine dining restaurant, which is housed in the historic Bellin building. The restaurant carries contemporary American cuisine. Their lounge and bar is on the first floor, while the main dining room is located on the second floor. As you walk into the Bellin building, through the glass doors, you notice the hostess stand for Black and Tan. It is situated in front of the bar lounge room. The hostess was very personable and told me it was a busy night and if I did not have reservations, which I did not, it would be a good 45 minute wait. I then went into their lounge for a cocktail till there was a table open upstairs. The lounge area is very expansive with massive floor to ceiling windows surrounding three-fourths of the room. There is a large bar towards the back with a few flat screen TV's that are situated throughout the lounge. There are many cocktail tables and also a separate comfy seating area with leather sofas. The dcor is contemporary style done in dark warm colors of browns and blacks which gives a classy look.
My server was very friendly and professional. He brought me their wine and martini list, and told me of all their different specialty beers they carried. He also asked if I would like to order an appetizer while I waited or if I wanted to, I could also order off the main menu and dine in the lounge versus having to wait for a table upstairs. I decided to wait and ordered a glass of Pinot Noir from their wine list for $8.00 and passed on the appetizers. During my wait the server and even the hostess came back a few times to inform me on the status of how long my wait would be, which I appreciated greatly. When my table was ready the hostess brought me up the beautiful marble staircase and sat me at a table by the window which looked out onto downtown Green Bay and the Fox River.
The dining room upstairs opens up to a very large area with high ceilings and very massive windows that surrounds most of the dining room. The dcor is elegant with a color theme of black and tan colors. The only minor complaint I have is that the lighting was too bright. I normally do not like when the lighting is so dark where it is difficult to read the menu, but when they have it too bright it takes away from a cozy intimate atmosphere. My server was prompt and very sweet, she brought me ice water and told me of the specials for that evening and asked if would like a cocktail. I decided to order their sweet yellow curry salmon entre for $26.00. This included their soup du jour or a salad of mixed greens. I ordered the salad with their homemade parmesan pepper ranch with goat cheese dressing.
My server then came carrying a large wicker basket filled with various bread slices of French, onion walnut, green and black olive and roasted red pepper with asiago cheese. I chose the green and black olive bread and the onion walnut, she placed my bread on a plate with tongs and then artfully presented on another small plate freshly grated parmesan cheese which she then swirled around the cheese extra virgin olive oil and then added a splash of balsamic vinegar. The breads were very fresh and tasted delicious soaked into the vinegar and oil mixture. My salad arrived soon after, it was nicely chilled and I was impressed with how rich and dark the greens were; each piece was cold and crunchy. The salad was very deep and contained cucumber slices, red onion and tomato on top. Their homemade ranch dressing was superb.
I enjoyed the added goat cheese which gave the dressing an added richness. Soon after, my entre arrived. It was a nice thick piece of fresh salmon topped with slices of cooked onion, and surrounding the salmon was yellow curry sauce with risotto. There was even some asparagus on the side. The salmon was nicely done and moist. The seasoning of sea salt on the salmon with the creamy soft texture and sweet flavor of the risotto was fabulous; it had such a nice combination, it was outstanding. My salad and salmon were so satisfying that I did not have any appetite for dessert. My experience at Black and Tan was very gratifying, from the customer service as I walked into the building, to the quality of the cuisine and right down to the end of my meal.

Brockton General - Toronto Restaurant
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mayank_N_Gupta]Mayank N Gupta
Located in the mainly Portuguese area of Toronto between Ossington and Dundas street West is an inviting little snack bar cum restaurant called Brockton General. Brockton General was formerly a Portuguese sports bar. The new owners and first time restaurateurs Pam Thomson and Brie Read revamped the Portuguese sports bar into a clean, bright and rustic space with a few tables and a little bar.
Close friends Pam and Brie found the little space on Craigslist and with the help of seasoned chef Guy Rawlings turned the Portuguese sports bar into the restaurant it is today. The dcor of the restaurant is charming and rustic with little vases of wild flowers, mismatched antique china and tiny jars of raspberry jam which makes the tables look very welcoming. The restaurant space is small and seats no more than 30. The walls are strewn with a few paintings including one by Jay Dart. A worn out door is used as a chalkboard which lists the quebec and Ontario cheeses, that are served a $16 a plate.
Guy Rawlings mans the kitchen alone and each night he writes the menu on a roll of chart paper which is hung on a blank wall of the restaurant. The menu changes frequently and usually consists of two appetizers and three mains. One look at the menu and it's evident that it has been carefully orchestrated. Dinner at Brockton General is served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, however the drinks and the bar menu are available on all nights. The restaurant offers a wide range of nibblers along with the your drinks. these include plates of olives, pickled vegetables, almonds and cheeses like benedict blue and grey owl.
Besides the drinks and light nibblers Brockton General is celebrated for its simple yet tasty appetizers and main courses. One of the favorites at the restaurant is the seared duck breast with rhubarb compote and scallion pancakes. Another dish that will make your mouth water is the seared pork loin served with pea shoots and grilled peppers. Each of these dishes will set you back by about 15-20 dollars. For desert its best to try the cinnamon apple cake with maple cream.
The service at the restaurant is warm and friendly. The servers are usually the owners themselves. Everything at Brockton General is executed to perfection and affordably priced. It is truly a place which care about what they serve to you and how they serve it to you. The ambience of the restaurant gives you the same feeling as having lunch or dinner at a friends house on a weekend. The Brockton General is one of the best kept secrets of Toronto. But like Most secrets it will soon be revealed to one and all.

For The Love of Peanut Butter
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michelle_Buckles]Michelle Buckles
There are certain food items that bless the memories of our childhood, leaving us chronically blissful because of its existence. For many, one of these food items is peanut butter. Lee Zalben liked this nut butter so much that he opened up shop in the heart of Greenwich Village, Manhattan and devoted his undying love toward an all-things-peanut butter restaurant. In 1998, Lee's admiration for the nutty treat became a reality with "Peanut Butter & Co.," and gourmet sandwiches have never been regarded as dull ever since.
This delicacy has touched the lives of many children, adults, and foodies worldwide. Some enjoy the treat on white bread, while other smother it on a banana. However, Zalben has covered all of his bases, accommodating even the most discriminating of nut butter enthusiasts.
Peanut Butter and Co.
Not only are the sandwiches, shakes, and outrageous desserts made "a la minute," but the various varieties of unique blends are scratch made as well. You can bet that these flavors are anything but the likes of the supermarket brands that we grew up ingesting. Let's take a look at some of these flavors:
Smooth Operator: natural, plain, and original
Crunch Time: a natural blend with crunchy chunks of peanuts
Cinnamon Raisin Swirl: A blend of smooth nut butter and hints of cinnamon and raisin flavors
The Heat Is On: perfect for the heat-seeking individual - a blend with fiery spices
White Chocolate Wonderful: bordering on dessert - bits of white chocolate dot this blend
Dark Chocolate Dreams: Who wouldn't want anything saturated in dark chocolate?
The Bee's Knees: a blend with hints of honey
Mighty Maple: a blend with natural maple syrup
Old Fashioned Smooth: Like Smooth Operator, but creamier
Old Fashioned Crunchy: Like Crunch Time, but crunchier
Featured Favorites
This sandwich joint houses a menu packed with nut butter delight. However, there are a few sandwiches that truly take the cake with foodie innovation! Let's take a closer look:
The Elvis: Everyone knows that Elvis Presley was a glutton. One of his favorite delights was actually a nut butter/banana/bacon sandwich. To honor his gluttony and devotion to peanut butter, Lee named a signature "sang" after this legend. Grilled wheat toast smothered in natural nut butter, bananas, bacon, and honey! Delicious!
Pregnant Lady: Yes, the pregnant lady! You know how they say pregnant women get the strangest cravings? Well, this sandwich represents the epitome of that. Think peanut butter and pickles smothered between the bread of your liking. It's an oddly delightful snack.
Fluffernutter: This is "THE" sandwich of childhood! Bordering as a dessert, you can have your favorite delight married with a heaping mound of marshmallow fluff! Does it get any better, and sweeter, than that?
Peanut Butter Cup: Another dessert-inspired sandwich! This one features a kiss of chocolate from, none other than, NUTELLA! All those chocolatey, hazelnut fiends are sure to be pleased with this sugar-ridden snack.
It is clear that this is not only one of the [http://www.squidoo.com/best-places-to-eat-in-new-york]best places to eat in New York, but also has some of the [http://www.squidoo.com/best-cupcakes-ever]best food ever. What Is Cypress Cuisine?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alex_Pupkin]Alex Pupkin
Cypress is a small island located in the Mediterranean Sea, close to Lebanon, Turkey, and Syria. Seventy percent of the island's population is of Greek origin. Cyprian food reflects an exotic blend of Middle Eastern, reek, and European culture. The strong colours, fresh ingredients, and large variety of dishes, appeals to people from all over the world. Centuries of migration have created food which reflects a blend of many cultures.
A typical Cypress meal consists of between 15 to 25 dishes, called Meze. Meze means "all together". Two to three cheeses are presented. While feta is Greek, haloumi is a cheese unique to Cypress. Haloumi is always made from goat's milk, not surprising, given the prevalence of goats in Cypress. It is often cured in mint, is fried or grilled, and has a soft buttery texture which melts in the mouth. Anari is a hard salty goat or sheep cheese sprinkled on pasta or inside some sweets.
Common dips are humous and melintzansalata. In Cypress humous is prepared with cumin and ample tahini, a sesame seed paste. Melintzansalata is a creamy eggplant dip infused with spearmint. Talatourzi is a yogurt cucumber blend. There is less garlic than in Greek dips, allowing the subtle flavours to come forth.
Being an island, prawns and fresh fish, such as Red mallet and Maritas, are plentiful. Cooked on an open grill, the crisp outer layer preserves the soft juicy texture within. Slices of lemon top the seafood.
Afelia is pork simmered in red wine and crushed coriander. Kelftedes are pork or lamb meatballs, mixed with grated potatoes. Cypress has the beautiful potatoes, grown in red clay earth. They are moist and bright yellow inside and out. They make superb fries. Kleltiko is lamb made tender by slow cooking all day in an outdoor oven. Stifado is rabbit stewed with red wine and onions. Barbecued pork or lamb sausage made of garlic, fresh coriander, and parsley is called Sheftalia.
An example of European influence is Lountza, a smoked ham similar to that found in Italy and the former Yugoslavia.
Trahano is a soup unique to Cypress. Bulghar wheat is soaked in yogurt and salt, and dried in the hot summer sun on round woven trays. The bulghar is cooked in stock with lots of lemon. It is served in the winter to fend off colds and delight the taste buds.
Lakmaiju is a festive,Turkish food easy to eat when out on the run. Spicy tomato minced meat is wrapped in a grilled elliptical flat bread.
Desserts are plentiful. Halvah is made form toasted almonds and semolina mixed with honey and syrup, with rose water drizzled on top. Mahalibe is eaten on hot evenings, served cold and sprinkled with pistachios. Shamishi is a cheesy filo pastry dusted with sweet cinnamon and vanilla powder.
Cypress cuisine is an orgy of flavours due to a melange of historical influences.

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nick_S_Andrews]Nick S Andrews
With all the buzz around burgers in London at the moment, I thought it sensible to give an idea of which restaurants are worth going to, and which are worth avoiding. This is an up to date list, based on personal research, of the Top 5 best burgers in London.
1. Lucky Chip burger - 10/10
Lucky Chip sell burgers from a burger van in a car park in East London. Their Bacon Cheeseburger (pictured) is absolutely phenomenal, and they have fun with some of their other burgers as well - check out the Selleck, the Sheen, the Danny Trejo, the Chuck Norris and enjoy. Lucky Chip are located in Netil Market, and a Bacon Cheeseburger costs about 6.50.
2. Admiral Codrington burger - 10/10
Chef Fred Smith is the genius behind the Admiral Codrington cheeseburger, which is quite possibly the most amazingly constructed burger in London today. Every element blends seamlessly together to produce a cheeseburger greater than the sum of its parts. At 15 it's up there in terms of price, but also included are excellent hand-cut chips and a top quality set of ingredients to boot.
3. Bread Street Kitchen burger - 9.5/10
This new addition to London's dining scene is still wet behind the ears, and that's exactly what you get with the Bread Street Kitchen short rib burger. This big, juicy, wet bear hug of a patty wrapped in a Miller's brioche bun, all for just 11.50. It's stated its case to be featured on this best burgers in London list.
4. MEATLiquor burger - 9.5/10
A lot has been said about MEATLiquor, much of it by me in fairness, and there's good reason for that. Yianni's burgers are legendary, even from the days of the #Meateasy they demanded a cult following, and in MEATLiquor they are just as good. For 7, the bacon cheeseburger is magnificent, and now you can get it in a central London location - there's really no excuse not to go.
5. Goodman burger - 9/10
Goodman city is on this best burgers in London list by pure virtue of the fact the have consistently served up a great burger every time I've been. Formed from the off-cuts of their dry-aged steaks, for 13 you get a burger, fries, and a choice of toppings. The great bun is baked in-house, and this delivers a hit of sophisticated, yet juicy beef.
Did I say 5, well, an honourable mention should go to number 6:
6. Rivington Grill burger - 8.5/10
Rivington Grill has been wowing the crowds for a while now, and they are still turning out some of London's best burgers at a very reasonable price of 12.75. This is a best burgers in London list staple as the beef is juicy, fatty and coarsely ground, and thought and detail has gone into the composition (if you avoid the egg topping) to make this a great burger.
I hope that helps when you next have that 'I need a burger' moment in London - enjoy!
