Nicky's Lionhead Pub Bar Review in De Pere, WI

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Elysia_Diaz]Elysia Diaz
Since this is my second Packer season that I've lived in the fabulous town of Green Bay allow me to tell you what I've learned. Donald Driver is the man, Aaron Rodgers is quickly becoming the man, Brett Favre is way past being the man, and Packer Bars will always rule the land. Is there anything else I left out? No? Good. Moving on. I thought maybe the next couple of my bar hopping shenanigans could revolve around some Packer Bars around town.
Before I got my feet wet, people have always told me which bars are what around GB. Not the case anymore. Or so I thought. Nicky's was the bar of choice for the evening. I quickly told my friend that Nicky's is in De Pere and we wanted things of a Packer nature. The reply I got was that I shouldn't "bar profile," Nicky's was THE Packer bar back in the day, as in the bar that the actual Packer players would frequent. Legend has it that the Packers would hold spring training in the area, and well sometimes the players would get thirsty. How could you not, right? And so, lo and behold there was Nicky's ready with cold, thirst quenching body rejuvenating fermented beverages.
When you walk into this De Pere hotspot, there's a front bar and a back bar. I got confused on which one is what, so I'm going to call it the old bar and new bar. The old bar sounds like it looks. Now I don't mean old as in old and gross, I mean old as in more of the old vintage sense. Old vintage is charming, old gross is not. This part of the place is where all the Packer magic happened. Just look around at all the photos decorating the walls and you'll see. The old side is also not open everyday. It's used for overflow on a heavy Friday/Saturday or parties. As parties seem to spring into action with the Holiday seasons, I would book in advance and set up your Holiday Bash now. The old bar is equipped with a full bar, with beer on draughts, and a few booths, hi top tables, large screen TV's, and a sound system separate from the new bar. Also, there is a juke box and some old school looking gambling games.
Now onto the new bar; I call it the new bar simply because it is. At least it was new in the 90's. Nicky's was bursting at the seams so they added on another bar with a small loft style upstairs and a kitchen to boot. The new bar is gorgeous. When I was there they had spooky spider webs covering the beautiful wooden bar but you could still see that they took their time building this baby. Also, hooray for Halloween decorations! I'm a sucker for any kind of festive adornment. The new bar is huge and plenty of chairs are around it. There are a few booths, hi top tables and regular tables too. For the upstairs there are a few tables as well. The new bar has exposed brick walls and dark wood which make this place seem cozy. I would call this place casual yet fine dining, if that makes any sense. On tap they carry Guinness, Blue Moon, Coors Light, Louies Demise, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams Seasonal, Smithwicks, Hacker-Pschorr, New Castle, Spotted Cow and their very own Killer Margarita. Nicky's must make a mean margarita recipe for it to be advertised on draught. As for bottles they have the usual Bud, Miller and Coors products. A bottle of my beloved Bud Light runs $3.50. They also have every kind of liquor possible so let your imagination run wild with your drink of choice. Oh, I almost forgot, right now they have home-made apple pie shots. I've been to a frat party or two in my day and I've had these, but Holy Cow, Nicky's makes them with love or something because they are awesome. These little guys are so tasty that my girlfriend likes to slowly sip it for the taste -- not just the thrill you get from a shot buzz. Those bad boys are $3. The night was fun, the crowd was fun, and the drinks were fun. The atmosphere is relaxed with very friendly service and lots of drinks to choose from. Oh, and if you're interested in all that Packer stuff, they got that too.
Born in Podunk, Georgia she was brought up in a small town until she was 7 when her family moved to Tampa, Florida. She lived there until she was accepted into college at UCF in Orlando, Florida. After putting in her four years she set off to Chicago, Illinois where she wanted the big city life. Years later, she thinks the big city life is overrated so she has her eyes set on Green Bay. Chicago's loss, GB's gain. She has worked in the bar/restaurant industry since she was 15 starting as a busgirl, moving onto hostess, then waitress/bartender, and manager. She loves her lite beer and shots of whiskey. But she can also act a little more sophisticated with a glass of wine. END has visited bars all over, from her Florida days to living in Chicago. Also backpacking in Eastern Europe she frequented many taverns and nightclubs in Italy, Prague, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Germany. Her last adventure included the ocean front bars of Costa Rica. The Golden Triangle refers to the popular area that runs from Quinta do Lago, Quarteira to Almancil (the three points). Many of the areas have been developed into luxury resorts complete with championship golf courses. Some of the top resorts in Europe (Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Dunas Douradas Beach Club) are in the Golden Triangle. To cater for the discerning tourists there is an abundance of restaurants. Below are our favourites.
Florian Restaurant
Located near the entrance to Quinta do Lago at 'Vale Verde', Florian Restaurante has built up quite a reputation. The restaurant is cosy with a 'olde worlde' feel. In the summer there is a large outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. The menu is International with a large selection of fresh fish and meat dishes. The lobster bisque and fillet steak are recommended.
Casa do Campo
Casa do Campo is located in a beautiful Algarvean farmhouse just outside Almancil. In the summer dine by candle light under the 100 year old fig tree. The menu is extensive with a large selection of Algarvean and International Cuisine. The rack of lamb or the daily fish special is a must.

A Tale of One City (and Three Restaurants)

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ed_J._Simon]Ed J. Simon
Normally, when I write about food, I write primarily about the positive experiences. If I have somewhat of a bad experience, I leave that at the door, thinking that maybe it was just a bad night for the restaurant. But this is a tale of one city-----Mission Viejo----and three restaurants. A cautionary tale, for it was the experience before I could even order food that serves to enlighten you, dear reader. Indeed, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
Twas one of those nights, the nights we know so well, when the day just gets out of hand and the evening's meal and libations get spoiled by the events of the day. This night, all my dinner plans went awry. The only solution, at 8:10 in the PM, was to pick up some takeout food on the way home from the visit to the Shops at Mission Viejo. My task was such----to bring home a quick meal, something to satisfy the cravings that I had been informed of----------some ribs. Gone were the plans for the visit to Lucille's and in their place, only the dreaded words "pick up anything". Fortunately, I knew that there was a rib place at the corner of Marguerite and Crown Valley Parkways. With that thought in mind, my heart lifted as I saw a solution to the heavy weight placed upon me.
At 10 after 8 o'clock, I pulled into the mini-mall where EJ's is located. The music was shaking the windows, so I thought that there must be a merry party going on inside. As I opened the door, a telltale scent hit my nose. Not, as I had so unwisely presumed, the aroma of ribs covered with a mouthwatering sauce. Instead, the scent was-----bleach! As I walked in, I saw someone mopping up. I yelled above the music, "are you open?". Still, with the lilting sounds of heavy metal rap hip-hop in the foreground, I heard, "no". Okay, I thought. I asked for the establishment's menu, at least to peruse their offerings for the next time we had a craving for ribs-----at least for the midday repast. I was given one, and with that, I bade the worker adieu.
A sign directly across from me beckoned-----"OPEN". It was at Crown Valley Chinese Restaurant, a place that I had dined from in the past but had been unimpressed with. On the other hand, I knew that many restaurants of this type had pork spareribs, so I went in. For you, gentle reader, the ones who have not read my reviews of Chinese dining, I beg forgiveness. I grew up eating Chinese food-----my family's twice a year pilgrimage to Chinatown, to eat at the Grandview Gardens on Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles; one of the highlights of my childhood. Later, as I learned to drive the four-wheeled combustion-driven motorcar that so defines our life these days, I drove to Mon Kee and Yang Chow for food-not chop suey and chow mein, but rather the regional specialties both places were known for. Next, I travelled some, deciding the best food I had in Europe was not coq au vin or Homard l'Amoricaine, but the Chinois food at a small Chinese restaurant in the Montmartre district of Paris' 18th arrondissement, perchance the same area frequented by Monsieur Defarge.
Later on, during my campus days at a well known University very close to downtown, I would stop everyday at the Chinese Bakery on Alpine Street, to imbibe a daily cup of coffee and some Chinese pastries with some denizens of Chinatown, grizzled Chinese who came to enjoy seeing and talking with the Anglo who came in, ordered what they did, and was never afraid to try something they suggested. Perhaps you have even read my rambling words about Capital Seafood, the min-chain that is now my benchmark for fine Chinese regional specialties and fresh-from-the-tank seafood. Thus, when I walked in and asked for the To-Go menu, I was looking at it with the eyes of someone not entirely unawares of the intricacies of Chinese cuisine.
I interrupted my perusal of their menu as my eyes fixated on the daily special board. "Beef Stew Noodle Soup $6.95". Since I had been craving some Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue (the delicious spicy beef and pork Central Vietnamese noodle soup) the past few days and had not dined on Shabu Shabu for several weeks, I asked the proprietor to tell me about it. And yes, dear reader-----she did tell me something. "Asian soup, Americans no like taste. Not for you". I had magically been transported from Mission Viejo to the land of the Soup Nazi. Just then, a young waitress walked up to the counter where I stood. They exchanged some words and I got a funny look. To put them at ease, I told them that I knew Chinese food and that I regularly dined at Capital Seafood in Irvine for my Chinese food. The response, much to my enlightenment, was this---"we no do much seafood", after which they chatted in Chinese and gave me a few unfriendly looks. I quickly bade them farewell and removed myself from the establishment.
Thus, with a heavy heart, I gave up my search for the fabled "rib." Before I exited the mini-mall, however, I spied several establishments. I had dined upon sushi twice in the last week, so that was out. Mexican was the meal of choice only two nights before, so I sought out the open sign that said "Jojo's Pizza Kitchen". As I walked in, they were also cleaning up, but the gentleman there was quick to welcome me in. Thus, I saw the first friendly face in my night's search for food to redeem myself at home. I asked about the pizza (I had seen a sign on the front door for a special that had quickly piqued my interest) and the gentlemen told me about the special, a 12" pizza with two toppings of your choice for only $10.00. With hopes of redemption at hand, I called home to make the offer of "one topping for you and one for me". Forthwith, I began to order my pizza------half my choice and half hers. Sensing impending discord, the kindly gentleman advised me that we could get the pizza with half her choice and half mine.
With those words, I committed to all mushroom, with half green pepper and half Italian sausage. My dilemma solved, I sat down for a glass of one of the establishment's fine beers on draught. Before my last swig of the pale nectar, my pizza was ready. As I bid a fond farewell to the gentlemen who manned this fine dining place, the words of some famous Bard slipped into my head, and before I knew it, I saluted them with "I'll be baaaack". And thus my tale comes to an end. The pizza was delicious, the crust not paper thin but not thick either. The toppings were generous and the sauce and cheese flavorful. The crust had just the right ratio of crunchy and soft, chewy goodness to it. I had redeemed myself, as well as having found a pizza place worthy of the name "Pizza Kitchen". So, my tale of woe ends on a positive note, my esteemed reader. Not only had I found a gentleman in action, but also a restaurant to replace the pizza parlor that I had decided had lost their touch for making fine pizza. And to you, the soul of Dickens past, I beg forgiveness for this parody. But as they say, "itis a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better restaurant that I go to, than I have ever known."
THE END
With apologies to Charles Dickens---any misquotes are intentional but done with reverence.

What It Takes to Have the Best Fine Dining Experience?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ryan_P_Dominguez]Ryan P Dominguez
Are you someone who's expecting a special occasion soon? Perhaps a wedding anniversary or it's the birthday of a special someone? Well nothing makes a perfect evening than sharing a wonderful dining experience with the people that matters to you. But for it to be a wonderful night of dining, having good food is not enough. Of course there is the need for atmosphere, the mood, the music, the excellent service and many more. Simply put, to have a truly wonderful dining experience, it has to be a fine dining experience. But not just any other dining experience, it has to be a real fine dining experience. But what exactly is it?
By definition, fine dining refers to the service and cuisine provided by dining establishments where everything is of the highest quality. That includes the food, drinks, services and both the atmosphere and setting are of the formal variety. In other words, everything feels and looks expensive and leisurely. In an establishment that offers this kind of experience, there are almost always a set of proper decorum where all of the guests are expected to follow. The staff of the establishment are highly trained and you will see that they dress formally as well. The meal courses that are offered in a fine dining restaurant are usually dedicated and somehow limited. Food portions are a lot smaller but they are garnished to the point of perfection.
It is a given that fine dining restaurants should offer foods that are not only visually pleasing but they should also taste amazing as well. In other words, the quality should be top notch. In most cases, mediocre service can be compensated if the foods that are served are excellent. But a fine dining establishment should always be exquisite and perfect, so everything should be of the highest level. No aspect of the dining experience should be mediocre or substandard. And since dining is meant to be a social experience, a restaurant should set up the dining area and atmosphere where it encourages conversation. This means that the table arrangement should not be too close to each other or the staff should not interrupt you every now and then.
For the perfect night, choose the best fine dining experience that's available to you. Just keep in mind the various criteria that were mentioned above and match it with your own personal preference. If you live in a major city, chances are there will be many options that are available so choosing the best one can be quite tricky. The best action to take is to conduct your research regarding all the fine dining restaurants in your area beforehand. That's right, if the occasion is indeed special, it won't hurt if you put a little more effort to it right?

Bar Night in a New York Limo

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Stephen_M_Barnum]Stephen M Barnum
As many of us know this year November 23rd this year is the biggest bar night of the year. Everyone is going out to their favorite bars for a night of merriment and inebriation. There are countless bars in NYC and maybe you're not sure which bar to hang at. Here's a look at a couple of your options and a way to make sure you get to and from safely, in a New York Limo.
There are countless bars in NYC and they don't always cater to the same crowd. Let's say you're looking for a bar that serves lots of delicious beer, and not just a few kinds. 24 Rabbit Club serves more than 70 semi-pronounceable imported beers as well as your local favorites. It can be a little hard to find as you use a buzzer to get in, but it tends to keep out the crazy college kids so if that seems up your ally then you should check it out!
Maybe you're more of a sports bar kind of person? The Village Pourhouse is a great location to check out. Not only do they have a good selection of draft beer, they have an impressive selection of bottled beer and mixed drinks as well. If you're looking to try something new, the staff is very knowledgeable and more than willing to help you try new things and discover a new favorite! On top of all that, their food isn't half bad either!
If you were not drawn in by the first two bars give this one a look. Pacific Standard has 16 brews on tap as well as two cask ales from across the country. There is a large projection screen used for sports game as well as a well stocked bookshelf. The back room is a homey place with comfy couches and a big TV to watch the game. When you arrive, you feel like you're in your own living room and you can even bring your own food! Numerous reviews lay much love for the owners John and Jon whom add to the environment in a very positive way.
All of these bars are great choices, but leave you with a dilemma. Who's going to be the DD? Why not just forgo the whole issue and hitch a ride with a New York limousine service? You could start the party after work with some friends, pile into you New York Limo, arrive at the bar, and then be confident you will get home safely. The drivers are punctual and very courteous.
With these great options for a night of revelry, how can you go wrong? These three great bars have some of the best there is to offer and are certainly worth checking out. There are so many bars out there to choose from, and these are just a handful. The important thing to remember is to have fun and be safe, and a great way to ensure both is to ride in a New York Limo.
Gotham Limo would love to be there for you with their experienced New York City Limousine service.

Food Offered at Turkish Restaurants

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Harry_Jacob]Harry Jacob
Did you know that the Turkish culture is one of the few cultures around the world where it is only considered hospitable when the host pays for the meal? In fact, the concept of guests paying or even splitting the bill is totally unknown and unaccepted. Only way to repay the host is to treat him some other day. This hospitable culture is still prevalent in Turkish restaurants around the world.
Turkish Restaurants: The Food
Turkey has many cuisines and food specialties that make up the tasty menus at the many Turkish restaurants in various parts of the world. Although the local food and flavor always blend into cooking, yet a standard Turkish menu would include the following dishes under each sub-category:
Beverages: The beverages would range from alcoholic to non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is widely consumed by followers of Islam and Turkish restaurants serve alcohol and their home blended Turkish wine and lager. The traditional beverage flavored by anise, known as Raki, is also a popular choice amongst guests. For non-alcoholic beverages, these restaurants offer Aryan, a milk drink along with kefir seeds, and Boza, which is a water based cinnamon flavored winter drink.
Appetizers: Starters in Turkish restaurants are known as Meze, which are generally accompanied by drinks. They can range from meat to stuffed rolls, known as Sarma. Another famous offering by the Turkish restaurants is known as Dolma. These are fruit rolls that have minced meat stuffed into them. Other forms of appetizers include various kinds of kebabs and grilled fish, served with many kinds of yogurts, gravy and dry fruits. While Turkish restaurants serve them as appetizers, they can be used for the main course as well.
Main Course: The food style of Turkish cuisine has developed over the years, bringing together many styles of cooking. A main course with meat would most often have lamb as the meat, while sea food would primarily consist of fish. Vegetarian dishes include stew made out of green vegetables in a white curry. Other dishes are made out of Balvir instead of rice, as part of the main course to be served in various Turkish restaurants.
Deserts: Turkish restaurants offer a wide range of savory and sweet pastries. A well loved dessert from Turkey is the Baklava. Made with dry-fruits, pistachio or walnut, it is a sweet dish that has various combinations to it. These variations are a part of localization. Another renowned dessert is the Haytali, which is from the Mediterranean region. This dish is a combination of dough, ice cream and rose water.

Turkish cuisine is one of the few cuisine styles in the world that has such vast variety of ingredients and flavors. The food style has everything from vegetables stews to meat and sea food. For the best experience, choose Turkish restaurants carefully.
Experience the fine cuisine served at one of the well known [http://www.bosrest.com/]Turkish Restaurants - Bosphorus Restaurant. It is an affordable neighborhood restaurant that serves healthy Turkish-Mediterranean food in Hartsdale.

New York is the largest and most populous city in the United States and one of the main international hubs for media, finance, commerce, education, fashion, and technology. German Bratwurst

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jason_Alej]Jason Alej
Once the meat is shopped, it can be spiced with marjoram, nutmeg, celery seeds and cardamom. Then, this intermediate product is precipitated into casings and grilled or fried before being served.
Despite its particularities, bratwurst has some common points with other sausages. It needs to be refrigerated until the moment of use, carefully shopped and cooked (completely cooked), since both processes, if done wrongly, can infest the meat and cause bacteria. Before cooking the bratwurst, open little holes in the surface so that it does not explode in the pan while cooking.
Bratwurst is a kind of sausage closely related to the German nation, where it was born. It is served throughout the whole Germany in numerous regional variations, and it is also popular in some other regions of the world where there are German populations.
According to the root of the word, brat means in German finely chopped meat whereas wurst means sausage. So, in general terms, bratwurst would be a sausage of finely chopped meat. Pork is the traditional meat in the bratwurst; however, some recent variations use beef and veal.
This sausage has a tendency to be highly spiced, and to be originally served with hard roll and mustard, although it may be accompanied by some other meals as well. It is possible to order the bratwurst through internet, specific suppliers and also it is sold in many groceries and butchers.
Like most of the traditional sausages, bratwurst needs to be cooked although if it is pre-cooked. It only needs to be on slight heat before serving. However, this pre-cooked sausage has an inferior flavor, so that raw sausage should be obtained if available. Before buying the bratwurst, make sure that the date has not expired and the meat is in good conditions.
In Germany, bratwurst is served with spicy mustard, along with sauerkraut. It can be complemented with a German beer, so that the combination of these two elements has become a quite popular lunch in Germany nowadays.
In different regions of Germany, both the flavor of bratwurst and the ingredients used to prepare it vary. Therefore, it comes out to be impossible to generalize or perpetrates only one type or group all its characteristics into one. It can change its size from very small to jumbo, and can go from white and soft to dark brown. It can be supplemented with cheese, cucumber or onion.

Just like the other oh so well-known Mama Africa in Long Street this restaurants based in the Heinrichstrae in Zurich, Switzerland, this restaurant offer all the flavours, colours, smells and sounds that you are used to from your travels in SA. The even offer what the Cape Town competition offers: a 16-course feast with African dishes from the whole continent. Yummy and oh so well done.
Chakalaka in London
British? Or South African spending some time in London? Looking for some Boerewors and Chakalaka? Then this is the place to be. Braai in New York
What would SA be without their braais? On wood or not, in the field or next to your house, the South Africans do it anywhere and anyhow. They are proud of a good Lamb Chop and some Pap with tomato sauce would also do no harm. If you are American and based in the busy heart of NY and looking for South African hospitality 'Braai in NY' is the place to go. Really good place to hang out and have a good piece of meat. of course the South African way.
Cape Town in Dsseldorf, Germany
The Mother City in the middle of Europe? Yes it is Cape Town in Dsseldorf.
This restaurant offers everything from Biltong to Samoesas and Curries. A good place for all our German friends to enjoy South Africa while sitting out the cold German winter.
The Springbok in LA
For a good steak, some rugby and some beers go to the Springbok Bar & Grill in Los Angeles. Definitely seems like to be a place of a good party and a good steak. A homey haven for all South Africans in California and the usual unbeatable hospitality for all Americans.
Hope you enjoyed the read and will enjoy some good South African food... to get over being homesick until your next visit to my beautiful home country and remember there is always some fun   rel=nofollow [http://www.richies-ride.com]things to do in Cape Town as well.

How to Choose the Perfect Restaurant

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Robert_Prestipino]Robert Prestipino
Hosting a party, family dinner on weekends, taking someone out on a date, or simply filling in your tummy could mean that you are in search for the best restaurant in town. With so much to choose from, wouldn't it be nice if you could find a way to narrow your choices? Let us enumerate the factors to consider when choosing restaurants.
#1: Type of Food
Preferred typed of cuisine, dietary preferences, and food allergies are just some of the major factors that you need to consider when choosing a restaurant. Some people are allergic to certain types of seafood, thus a seafood restaurant may not be a good option during your first date. Other people vowed to become vegetarians, thus you have to make sure that the restaurant has a salad bar or has one on their menu.
#2: Quality of Food
If you are preparing for a party, most restaurants do offer free food tasting so you can assess the quality of their food. Make sure you take down notes so you can review them later when you are about to make a decision.
For casual dinning, I would recommend that you order the restaurant's house specialty. Since it's the dish they are most proud of, I usually consider that it is their best tasting dish. If I like the specialty of the house, chances are I would also like their other dishes.
#3 Price
When dinning out, the last thing you would want to happen is receiving a bill that is more than your cash on hand. This is embarrassing and it could get you in trouble. Bring your credit card or debit card with you; this could save your face and your date. Choose a restaurant that would fit your budget, you may do an online research on the restaurant's menu. However, common sense could also tell you that fancy restaurant also bears a fancy price tag.
#4 Cleanliness
One of the most important things to look out for when choosing a restaurant is the cleanliness of the place. Remember, they are the ones who are preparing your food. As a rule of the thumb, the comfort room reflects the cleanliness of the kitchen. So, go check how clean their loo is and you'll get an idea of the condition of their kitchen.
Other things that you may also want to consider are: location, parking space, service, queue, ambience, and special requests. Consider these factors when choosing your restaurants.

How Irish Restaurants Make Ireland's Most Popular Drink

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dorothy_L_Maddocks]Dorothy L Maddocks
Irish restaurants and pubs are a favourite of quirky food enthusiasts who love all things related to Ireland. What's not to like about Ireland's food, after all? You'll find they have many different recipes built on their staple food, potatoes. They make the best shepherd's pies in the world. One of their regions, Cork, provides some of the most delectable chicken and fish dishes you will taste in the entire region. Of course, you cannot mention Ireland without mentioning their drinks, as the Irish are quite popular for their drinking habits. Even if you are not a fan of Irish food, chances are you already know of Irish coffee.
Irish coffee combines three of the most delectable flavours on the planet: coffee, cream, and whisky. The liquor provides that extra punch to the traditional coffee drink we know and love. Another characteristic that sets it apart from your typical coffee drink is that instead of mixing the cream, you place the heavy cream on top of the coffee drink. You then sip the coffee through the cream to get the perfect layering of flavours this drink offers.
Making this drink perfectly can be a challenge, especially for those of you trying to create it for the first time. With a little practice and some guidance, you can recreate this wonderful cocktail at home. Here's how Irish restaurants do it.
Start off with a good brew of black coffee. Take your favourite variant of coffee and remember not to add milk because it will curdle when you add the whiskey later on. You can use any kind of brewed coffee you want, but a strong kind of black coffee is the traditional ingredient for this recipe. Add an equal measure of whiskey to your black coffee. If you don't want your drink to be strong, you can decrease the amount of whiskey you pour in.
Next, pour in at least one tablespoon of sugar. You may think this is too sweet, but the strong flavour of the coffee and the alcohol in the whiskey will overpower the sweetness of the sugar. It serves a purpose other than provide sweetness to the drink. It will allow the cream to float on top of the coffee and whiskey mixture later on, which is why you need at least one tablespoon of it in the drink. The original recipe uses two tablespoons of sugar.
Mix these together until the sugar dissolves completely into the mixture. Here comes the tricky part: placing the cream on top of the coffee mixture. Experts use a simple trick to do this successfully. Take a spoon and place it just above the surface of your coffee mixture. Pour the heavy cream slowly and carefully on the spoon. Let it overflow to the surface of the coffee. Lift the spoon up as the top of your mug fills up with cream. The sugar you added in the coffee mixture earlier makes it heavier than the cream, allowing the cream to float on it. Your Irish coffee is ready for you to drink!

Dining in the Dark - Have You Experienced It Yet?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christopher_AG_Watson]Christopher AG Watson
There are all kinds of new and unique places to dine all over the world. Fusion restaurants offer a unique perspective on food combining cuisines from different cultures to create new and exciting flavours which complement and offset one another. Some restaurants specialize in tiny portions of savoury delicacies. Other restaurants come into an area for a short time and offer a delightful or unusual cuisine, and then disappear (also called supper clubs or pop-up restaurants). But one of the most unique, weird dining experiences is dining in the dark.
Dining in the Dark is an actual restaurant located in Las Vegas. The people who work in the restaurant are all blind or visually impaired, and lead diners in an experience like no other in the world. In today's visually stimulating world, people experience sensory overload. Visual images often overwhelm all other senses, which detract from the rest of our senses. Dining in the Dark is founded in the principal of taking away the diner's sight for a few hours during a meal in order to enhance the remaining senses. The result is a strange, possibly scary, but delightful dining experience which is sure to remain memorable.
By eliminating sight from your dining experience, you are not going to be assuaged by the visual appearance of a meal. Let's face it, we have all had a meal which looks stunning, is plated beautifully, and has all the bells and whistles on the plate to make it gorgeous. We have also all had the experience of tasting the food, and being left wanting more from the meal--it looks so much better than it tastes. By taking away all preconceived notions of the food based on sight, the diner is opening up the other senses to get a whole new perspective on a dining experience. The sounds of the restaurant, the smell of the food, and ultimately the taste are going to supersede all other preconceived notions about the food. Diners will truly be able to savour a meal and take in all the other senses surrounding their dining experience.
While it may seem weird or unusual to share a meal with friends, family, or partners in the dark, it is actually an effective means of creating a memorable meal. The people who work in the restaurant are trained to guide diners through the dining experience. While at first it may seem strange, awkward, difficult, and uncomfortable, by honing the other remaining senses during the course of the meal, diners are taken to a completely otherworldly level within their dining experience.
There are a lot of novel ideas in the culinary world. Weird dining or unusual experiences are everywhere you look. Dining in the Dark is a completely different dining experience than any other restaurant has to offer. The food is not only outstanding, but the atmosphere and notion of letting go of inhibitions create an experience like no other. It allows guests to abandon the over-stimulation of sensory overload. Diners are not bombarded by sight, but rather are allowed to let their other senses take over.
In addition to the restaurant in Vegas there are a number of others worldwide. Visit danslenoir.com for details of their restaurants in the following cities...
Paris
New York
Saint Petersburg
Kiev
As well as darkdining.com for their restaurants in
San Francisco

While it may be a weird dining experience, it is one you will certainly not forget.
